My favorite part about this shoot is obviously their gorgeousness. Sometimes I wish that I could bottle up confidence and the willingness to try from one couple, like Becca and Eric, and share it with other couples as inspiration to them. For all of you inspired new photographers, I think this is one of the things about becoming a professional wedding photographer…convey to your inexperienced clients the importance of exuding confidence and showing love on camera. Everyone has it in them, but sometimes it’s buried deeper in them than for others…but it’s there, and I think that if we show them how someone else did it, they’d relate quickly and blow their shoot out of the water! Becca & Eric, you’ve got it. What ever it is, whatever it’s called, it’s in you and it’s close to the surface because YOU (truly), WERE FABULOUS.
As a bonus, it was so nice to walk around the beautiful property of the Salisbury House and Gardens for their shoot…it’s really one of the few places in Des Moines that has truly unique, antiquated architectural elements. You’ll find Gothic styled arches, patterned brick, gargoyled faces, and rustic columns. The property has long grasses, a courtyard, a carriage house, and these gorgeous steps that are met with a central garden. Although love, light, and pretty smiles can enchant almost any backdrop, having a beautiful place to shoot, is really special. Oh! And can I say, Thank you Iowa for having the prettiest falls ever.
