Styled shoots can be a real challenge: picking the theme, finding the dress, finding the VENDORS! Trust us, we’ve been there, and we are, I suppose, always kind of there. We are always looking to find new vendors to work with and vendors, I might add that are as thrilled to be doing shoots as we are. Let me first tell you about some failures…we’ve emailed and have been ignored, approached in person with full excitement and glowing wide eyes and been shut down with statements like “well what is that going to get us?” “how much money is that going to make us?” and “unless it’s in GO, it’s irrelevant.” It has literally broken my heart countless times. Dado pats me on the back, gives me a hug and says, it’s ok, they don’t get it. Sometimes I want to scream but it’s free advertisement! It’s a huge deal! We’ll get published! I want to grab the people by the shoulder and say don’t you understand that collaboration is huge?!?!
Occasionally I even have the thought of actually sitting and explaining to the potential collaborators. But, if they can’t see the value, even after I present the idea, and the advertisement that comes from the collaboration, and the publishing potential, what else can I say? If I have to explain, is it worth it? But then you come across 2 or 3 people that listen, see the vision and appreciate the benefits…and things start to fall in place. You see excitement, you hear ideas, and you have fun. Suddenly the bitter letdowns don’t taste so bad, and you realize those were just interactions that were part of the road…sun comes out.
Here are a few photos of shoot we did with a couple of wedding professionals in our area. It’s a fashion shoot! We partner regularly and love the material we get. These relationships happened because we walked in and shared an idea. There were naysayers before and naysayers after, but hey, look who we found in between.
